    Liverpool and Warrighton General Hospital U.K.

  • 1974-1977Registrar Warrighton General Hospital.
    After  returning to Cyprus he worked in General Medicine – Cardiology at Pafos General Hospital from February 1978 until April 1981.
Present Appointment:
  • 1981- to date: General Medical and Cardiology Consultant in Private  Practice
  • 1985-1992: Consultant in General (Internal) Medicine and Cardiology at Saint Paul Pafos Polyclinic.
  • 1992 – to present Director and Consultant at St. George’s Private Hospital Pafos (of which he is co-founder).

Dr Andreas Demetriou is a Specialist in Internal  Medicine and Cardiology including individualised medical examinations (check-ups) based on Past Medical History, Family History  habits and present medications. He believes strongly in preventing diseases by the appropriate investigations at the appropriate time for each individual.

He is expert diagnostician for rare conditions or rare presentations of common conditions such as Cerebreal Vasculitis, Polymyalgia  Rhumatica, Hormone disorders and Fevers of unknown origin etc.

Preventative cardiology:

An important aspect of medicine today is preventative cardiology. This means early and adequate control of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, proper control of diabetes if present, an appropriate diet and exercise.

Dr Demetriou is an expert at performing and  evaluating 24  hour Holter for blood pressure measurement and for cardiac rhythm monitoring. An important aspect of preventative cardiology is the Stress ECG test  and Dr Demetriou is an expert in  its performance and interpretation.

Arhritis and rheumatological diseases:
Dr Demetriou has a direct clinical link for the diagnosis and management of rheumatological and connective tissue diseases with the internationally  acknowledged  expert  Professor Gabriel Panayi, Professor Emeritus of Rheumatology, King’s College London and honorary Consultant to Guy’s and St. Thomas, Hospital, London, Enlgland.  Professor Panayi visits St. George’s Hospital for consultations.
